Speed of Consumption

Being used to watching a lot of content changes the way I would like to consume my knowledge. Before when I had slow internet because I had a 2g phone while others had a 4g phone and others were able to use JIO with unlimited internet and I could not.

Having that limitation was actually better for me, as I could just read and not watch a lot of videos. That helped me learn things slowly and also gave me a sense of clarity and also improved my vocabulary. But now that I have a 4g phone with unlimited broadband connection almost all the time, the way I consume knowledge has changed a lot, to a point that it is just a distraction.

I go from one topic to another and consume way too many YouTube videos because it's easy and doesn't require much effort. This has gotten me a bit addicted to YouTube and is hurting the way I learn about things overall.

The speed at which I consume the content is way higher than my ability to process things and learn deeply about them. I just forget about the things I watched a few minutes ago if I continue to watch videos, hopping from 1 topic to another. This is why I need to add limitations on how I use YouTube, especially when I'm trying to learn something on it.

This also links back to Life Without Social Media, although I'm not using anything else, YouTube as I see it now has become a huge problem right now.

I should read Deep Work (2016) once again and set better rules for myself. I really want to change and achieve something better, and that can't happen if I'm dwindling my time hopping from one topic to another.
