People usually mirror things, i.e, If you talk to them nicely, they are likely to do the same with you. In similar way, you can use images that show happy people in your website if you want them to get a sense of happiness as well.

Many times it's hard to understand things in the world. Here is where this shortcut comes into play, and we often see this being used everywhere.

E.g. A guy wearing a white coat will appear in the ad, for selling toothpaste, A construction worker with a hard hat will appear in a cement ad and so on. We also see similar things in the world at large, if all the people are using Instagram, then I should be on that platform as well, etc.

People use social validation to appear legit and make the decision easier for people. If other people are doing this, then it must be a good thing.

How is this translated in real web designing? It can be done in a few ways. Testimonials, Logo - so that people cab recognize the brand immediately, numbers - We've helped X number of people/We've generated X revenue, etc.

Color affect the way we think. Like, Red is used for excitement, strength, love, energy. Orange for confidence, success, bravery, sociability, etc.

People usually operate from biases and here is a linked PDF of 180 of them [[Cognitive Biases Codex.pdf]]. Going through this might be helpful in getting a better understanding of how people react and think.
