Fleeting Notes

  1. We often try to make things better by adding more steps in it. Eg - I wanted to write more blogs, so I thought that I should track how many words I'm writing each day. For the simple reason, If you want to improve something then track it.
  2. Now here comes the dilemma, If I try to track this and for some reason I can't write more some days, it would make me want to write the usual number of words no matter what.
  3. This issue can cause me to write things that are not good enough, just because I need to write the usual number of words every day.
  4. So the end result can be the opposite of what I intended, I.e, improving my blogging skills by writing consistently.
  5. We do this to ourselves unknowingly, trying to improve something only to make it worse by adding steps and making something complicated.
  6. The best thing I can do about blogging is deciding to just write every day. No matter the number of words I write, If I'm consistent, then I'm making progress.
  7. Don't get me wrong it's important to track things to improve them but, we have to make sure that we understand why we are adding those extra steps. What metric are we trying to improve should be of utmost importance.
